Serbia is proud of its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Nikola Selakovic met today with Chargé d’Affairesa.i. of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in SerbiaElnurGuliyev.

Minister Selakovic stated that bilateral cooperation was traditionally good and friendly and that the excellent relations between President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and President of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev additionally contributed to that.

Selakovic said that Serbia was proud of the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, especially bearing in mind that it was based on mutual understanding in terms of the respect for the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Minister said that Serbia wasadvocating respect for the territorial integrity of all UN Member States, including Azerbaijan, and stressed its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, taking intoaccount that our country called for such a solution forthe issue of Kosovo and Metohija as well.

Selakovic stated that Serbia welcomed the joint statement issued on9 November 2020 by the President of Azerbaijan, Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of the Russian Federation on the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Head of Serbian diplomacy also discussed the intensification of political dialogue at the top and high levels, emphasizing that the top officials of Azerbaijan had open invitations to visit Serbia.

Minister Selakovic assessed that the current level of economic cooperation does not match the potentials and interests of the two countries, and that there was room for its improvement, especially in the fields ofagriculture, mining and energy, but also tourism. The Minister invited Azerbaijani entrepreneurs to invest in Serbia.
