The first round of consultations on consular issues between the Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Azerbaijan took place in Baku on 24th June, 2013.
The Serbian delegation was headed by Ambassador Jelko Krajinovic, assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Jasmina Klajic-Veselinovic, First Counsellor at the Department on consular issues and Milos Zatezalo, Chief of the Border Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and Milanko Bajceta, Counsellor of the Embassy of Serbia in Baku.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Chief of the consulate department of the Foreign Ministry Mehriban Najafova, Head of consular and legal issues department Elshad Mejidov. The consultations were attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Justice, border and immigration services of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Two sides were discussed the present level of bilateral cooperation in the consular sphere and project of the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the exemption of a visa requirement for their respective nationals”.
A protocol of intention was signed as a result of the meeting.
Following consultations on consular issues between the Foreign Ministries of Serbia and Azerbaijan will be held in Belgrade in 2014.
